Nabaidh Fairseach ( threshold dwellers ) Native Irish oak Size 46 x 13 x .1.15 inches Item Code 011W In the Celtic tradition the dog symbolizes a guardian dweller at the threshold between this world and the Celtic other-world. The Irish word for dog is madra. This carving depicts two inter-twined dogs one ( right side facing outwards and upright ) is seen with its head within the physical world and its body within the other-world. The second dog ( left side ) is seen with its head within the other-world and its body within the physical world; thus acting as a powerful catalyst, demonstrating the essential interconnectedness of these two worlds, and all that abides in both. Nabaidh Fairseach (Threshold dweller) Native Irish ash Size 36 x 13 x .75 inches Item Code 022W In the Irish tradition the dog is the gateway or threshold dweller protecting all that is sacred and watching over the undefiled treasury of mysteries, that comes from a relationship with the inner on all levels. This other-world protector is normally recognized as being white with red ears. In the Irish tradition, when one follows or is guided by such a creature, it would lead right to an entrance to the Irish Celtic other-world. by continuing upon this course into this realm one is assured of protection from this other-world hound. Normally a threshold piece would be placed either near or above a significant entrance / threshold.
